Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou - 315: Haruhi's Big Miss North High Plan
Apologies for the longer than usual gap between updates! Things have been crazy at work lately and it kind of slipped my mind to update here.
And so, I quietly waited at the entrance with the fliers just as I was told to...
ハルヒ Haruhi: Hey, coming through~
Haruhi and Koizumi appeared carrying several large cardboard boxes. Haruhi had one and Koizumi was carrying three of them.
キョン Kyon: Oi Koizumi, you okay there?
古泉 Koizumi: Yeah, I'm fine. They aren't nearly as heavy as they look.
キョン Kyon: What are they? And where did you steal them from?
ハルヒ Haruhi: Don't slander my good name, we didn't steal anything. Koizumi-kun paid good money for these in the flea market outside.
ハルヒ Haruhi: We'll distribute these along with the fliers. Great plan, right?
As she spoke, Haruhi pulled a white towel from one of the boxes. It had the company name of some lumber yard written on it, what you'd refer to as promotional goods...
キョン Kyon: We're giving people towels with their fliers, why?
ハルヒ Haruhi: Moron. You're the one who said it's going to rain soon, right?
ハルヒ Haruhi: When it starts raining, everyone outside is going to flock inside, right? And since they'll be wet, they'll be wanting something to wipe themselves dry with.
ハルヒ Haruhi: And so, the plan is by giving out towels with our fliers, everyone is going to want one!
古泉 Koizumi: As I'd expect of you, Suzumiya-san. I had the same idea the moment I noticed they were selling towels in the flea market.
キョン Kyon: Well, it's certainly a good idea in theory at least.
ハルヒ Haruhi: It really is going to rain, right? If it doesn't, my well laid plans are going to waste.
キョン Kyon: I know it will, be quiet and wait.
ハルヒ Haruhi: Hmm... If it doesn't, I'll be holding your back responsible.
What are you going to do to my back?
古泉 Koizumi: Oh my... What a surprise.
As Koizumi drew our attention, it had started raining outside.
ハルヒ Haruhi: It's really raining... Kyon, your back isn't half bad!
キョン Kyon: Gee, thanks.
... Soon after that.
女子生徒Ａ School Girl A: This sucks! My uniform is totally soaked.
女子生徒Ｂ School Girl B: The weather forecast never said anything about rain~ Geez!
ハルヒ Haruhi: Here, have a towel!
Without a moment's delay, Haruhi handed towels and fliers to a pair of girls coming inside.
ハルヒ Haruhi: And please vote for Mikuru Asahina-chan in the Miss North High Contest!
男子生徒Ａ School Boy A: Brrr, that's cold!
One after another, people soaked with the rain flocked indoors.
ハルヒ Haruhi: Come on, Kyon, Koizumi-kun, you start handing these out too. I'm not going to be able to keep up by myself soon.
キョン Kyon: Right, of course.
キョン Kyon: Here's a towel! And please vote for Mikuru Asahina-san!
男子生徒Ｂ School Boy B: I'd like a towel too!
古泉 Koizumi: Here you go. And please remember Mikuru Asahina-san.
And just as Haruhi predicted, most people coming inside were taking both our towels and fliers.
男子生徒Ａ School Boy A: Wow. This girl is pretty cute. She's entering the Miss North High Contest, huh?
男子生徒Ｂ School Boy B: I'd love to see her in person.
ハルヒ Haruhi: Mikuru Asahina-chan will be participating in the Calligraphy Club's event starting at 3:00. It's your chance to see her in the flesh!
キョン Kyon: It'll be taking place in the dojo!
And so in practically the blink of an eye, we'd finished distributing all of our fliers and towels.
キョン Kyon: We did it.
古泉 Koizumi: With everything we've done, our promotional campaign is sure to bear results.
ハルヒ Haruhi: Yeah. The Calligraphy Club's event is sure to draw a huge crowd. And of course, it'll pull a lot of votes in the actual contest. Wait and see!
