Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou - 190: Second Decision

After eventually obtaining our crepes, the three of us wandered around aimlessly due to the rain throwing various things off.

While Haruhi was dashing about looking for something to do, Koizumi opened up the pamphlet and spoke up.

古泉 Koizumi: Now then, shall we decide what to do next?
キョン Kyon: There’s still something you want to do?

古泉 Koizumi: Yeah. Looking at the time, we’ve got time for one more event... Just a moment, I’ll pick something out.
I’d tell him to go by himself, but I’m too far into the ride to back out now. And so with a sigh, I looked at Koizumi’s proposals.

古泉 Koizumi: ... Please choose from one of these two.

> Scream out! Shouting Contest
Card Game Tournament

キョン Kyon: Let’s go with this.

古泉 Koizumi: You’re confident in your shouting ability?
キョン Kyon: No, it’s just easier since I don’t need to use my head.

古泉 Koizumi: I see, that’s fine. Let’s hurry and find Suzu... hm?

In Koizumi’s line of sight, Haruhi was for some reason twirling a hula hoop around her waist while hanging out with someone in a panda costume. Koizumi turned bright red, as it looked more like an octopus dancing.

And so...

We arrived at the location for the “Scream out! Shouting Contest”, which was more popular than I’d expected.

ハルヒ Haruhi: I’ll pass. I’ll watch from the sidelines. I’ll be listening up to see how you two do.

... With Haruhi declaring that she had no intention of competing, Koizumi and I entered ourselves.
By the way, the event was being held by the “Environmental Studies Club”. They’d apparently been investigating the effects of noise pollution and had written various things up on a panel, well I guess it’s a semi-appropriate cover up on the links to their activities.
There was a clerk setting up the machine to read the noise levels on standby out in the rainy courtyard. I see, so we’re supposed to shout in that direction.
But if their research covers the negative effects of noise pollution, why would they hold an event promoting it... Best not to think about it too deeply.

古泉 Koizumi: Now then, what to shout? It appears they’ve got prizes for what you say as well?
キョン Kyon: Isn’t there anything you’d want to shout at Haruhi?

古泉 Koizumi: Are you serious?
キョン Kyon: It’s a good opportunity.

古泉 Koizumi: I’d lose before even trying. I’d barely be able to say it out loud with all my nerves.
キョン Kyon: If you insist...

... And seemingly having taken my suggestion, Koizumi’s passionate scream was as follows.
古泉 Koizumi: Brigade Chiiiiiiiiieeeeeef!
Without any knowledge of its significance, Koizumi shouted out the other world’s Haruhi’s job title, and was satisfied. Regardless of the details.
By the way, a brigade of cheerleaders happened to be coincidentally passing by and were startled and looked this way but, let’s just ignore that.

ハルヒ Haruhi: Brigade Chief, of what brigade?
古泉 Koizumi: Who knows, I’m not really sure myself.

ハルヒ Haruhi: ... Huh?

古泉 Koizumi: Oh well, it looks like I couldn’t beat the established record. It’s your turn now.
キョン Kyon: Right, watch this.

Having said that, I still haven’t decided what to say... Oh well, since she’s here let’s go with this.
キョン Kyon: Aliens! Time travellers! Esp...urk!
... I stuffed up. Feel free to laugh.
Naturally, the spectators laughed too. Looking through the laughing crowd in the hall, Taniguchi was among them... He’s not qualified to laugh at me!

Thank you!

I really appreciate the work you're doing to make this game available to an English-reading audience. Keep up the great work!
